Welcome to the Deep Cove and Mount Seymour area. Understanding our heritage develops
a sense of place and belonging. On this page you will see some early photographs
of life in our neighbourhood.
Our environment, so full of natural beauty, has developed from a summer resort
area to an evergrowing community.
|
During
our growth, we have seen many changes. People, businesses and industries have
come and gone. Throughout all these changes the people who live here have kept
their strong sense of place.
As a fast growing community, it is important than ever for us to understand our
heritage and to learn from the past while reaching for the future.
The Deep Cove and Area Heritage Association is available to the public for general
interest or research purposes. It was established in 1985 by a dedicated group
of volunteers many of whom are still with us today. |
| |
|
Our archives house a collection of over 800 photographs, some dating back to the
turn of the century, as well as manuscript materials, maps, documents, and oral
and written interviews with the area's pioneers.
The Deep Cove and Area Heritage Association's office is located in the Deep Cove
Cultural Centre and is open to the public on Saturdays from 12-4 pm and the coordinator
is present at that time. The office is available by appointment also.
